The Sports Premium is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture and Media and is allocated directly to schools.  The funding must be used to improve quality and provision Physical Education [PE] and Sport.  Use of Sport Premium includes:

  • developing the out of hours sports calendar
  • providing enrichment opportunities such as trying out new sports
  • developing the skills of staff by booking coaches and other training opportunities
  • buying PE and sports equipment

We are members of Atherton and Tyldesley Sports Association [ATSA] and Wigan East sports network. Through the opportunities the funding provides for school, as well as, membership of the ATSA Sports’ Association, school has been awarded the Silver Sports Mark Award.

For 2019-20, Sacred Heart will receive £17,700 in Sports Premium.  For details of use, see the relevant yearly plan in the Document Section.
