Welcome to the Community Forest School!
In April 2020, we were delighted to receive funding from ‘The Deal’ (Wigan Council) to develop a woodland area into a community facility for Forest School activities.
The woodland has been developed into a fantastic Forest School area, with children from our school and the local community accessing the facility weekly.
Over the summer, work has been undertaken to revamp and refresh the Community Forest School. We now have an outdoor shelter, improved access/pathways, new canopies, a den building area and a new fire pit is currently being developed. Please see the pictures above.
Since the Forest School area was opened in April, we are proud to have seen so many community users access the Forest School facility. The following community groups/organisations have used the area so far:
- Atherton Start Well Centre – Weekly ‘Forest Friends’ session.
- Atherton Childminders Group
- Astley & Tyldesley Childminders Group
- Liz Holden Childminder Group
- Poppins Childminders Group
- Happy Days Childminders Group
- Hindsford Day Nursery (Under 2’s, Upper Toddlers and Preschool)
- Hindsford Primary School (Various Year Groups)
The Community Forest School is available to book in the evenings for community groups. For weekend bookings, please contact the school office to discuss. Their is a small cost of £3.00 per session, which is used to support the cost of maintenance of the facility. This is to be paid in cash on the day of your booking please.
How to Book:
The booking calendar must be used to request slots and you can view when slots are available.

When we have received your booking request via the calendar and completed booking form, we will be in touch to discuss arrangements.
