The Music subject leader is Mrs Woodward

In Music, we encourage creativity, confidence and self-expression. Using their voices, instruments and technology, pupils explore and create music in a variety of styles and traditions, developing a love and appreciation for music from around the world.

Music is an inspiring and practical subject where children acquire and apply a broad range of knowledge and skills. They learn about rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics and structure, as well as how music is written and performed. Pupils listen carefully and thoughtfully to different genres and composers, developing their understanding and critical listening skills.

We work with a wide variety of instruments and resources, including classroom percussion, tuned instruments and digital tools. Through singing, performing, composing and improvising, children build resilience, teamwork and self-confidence.

Pupils develop the skills of performing, composing and appraising music. They achieve by exploring different musical traditions and by expressing their ideas and emotions creatively through sound.
