The Art subject leader is Mrs Woodward

In Art, we encourage creativity, imagination and self-expression. Through exploring ideas and experimenting with a range of materials, pupils learn to create artwork that reflects their own experiences, thoughts and feelings.

Art is an inspiring and practical subject where children develop their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printing and collage. We build a broad understanding of colour, pattern, texture, tone, shape and form, while learning about different artists, cultures and artistic styles from around the world.

Using a variety of materials — such as paint, clay, textiles, ink, pastels and recycled materials — pupils experiment, take creative risks and learn new techniques. They are encouraged to reflect on their work and the work of others, developing confidence in sharing their ideas and opinions.

Through mainly practical activities, children learn how to explore, create and evaluate their artwork. They achieve by observing the world around them, developing their imagination and expressing themselves in unique and meaningful ways.
